FCI World Championship 2013

23rd FCI IPO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2013

Ladies and gentlemen, fans of the sport cynology, let me introduce the venue for 23rd FCI IPO World Championship. I am very pleased to invite you to the Championship which takes place in the Czech Republic from 18th to 22nd September 2013. This event is held under the auspices of Oldrich Bubenicek, the county representative of the district Ústí nad Labem.

Roudnice nad Labem (Roudnice on the Elbe River) is situated, as the name indicates, on the left bank of the Elbe River, under the monumental peak Rip. First mentions of the town date back to 1167. The medieval Roudnice town was in the possession of Prague bishops who built one of the first stone castles here. In 19th century, large scientific and technical development started and industrial enterprises grew within the area of the town. This period goes hand in hand with the cultural boom during which the Museum of Karel Rozum and modern Art Gallery were founded. Roudnice nad Labem and the whole region under the peak Rip have been the symbols of the Czech culture for hundreds of years.

Roudnice nad Labem is also known as a city of sports and is famous as home town of many sportsmen who represent the Czech Republic at world top level events. It is the same with sport cynology. Several national championships have been organized here. Cynologists from Roudnice belong to most experienced teams concerning organizing qualifiers for World and National Championships. They have managed such events for last ten years. Organizing team from Roudnice also participated in planning and realization of the FMBB World Championship (Belgian Shepherds) in 2009. Two national champions and several members of the world team in sport cynology come directly from Roudnice. Representatives of the Czech dog sport have lately achieved series of successes in the World Championships.

The 23rd FCI IPO World Championship 2013 will take place in sports centre Pod Lipou, which is located on the right bank of the River Elbe, within the cadastral unit “Vědomice”.
